Syed Y. Hassan is working as Deputy Director (Planning & Resources) at MY University. Hassan holds a Master's degree in Finance and an MBA, as well. Hassan has versatile experience of more than 11 years in project management, financial management, investment analysis and most importantly passion for entrepreneurship.
He started his career at Monitor Associates managing more than 16 ICT deployment projects worth 120 million dollar and achieved the highest position of Manager Finance. Later he joined a leading research centre (nexGIN RC) on the clue spot of project coordinator and managed four research projects. After the successful completion of projects, he joined a passionate research group at National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST). Though his core responsibility was management of project but he took the challenge of commercialization of research outcomes. His efforts for commercialization have been recognized at various national and international forums, just to name few; TiE International Business Plan Competition, UN World Youth Summit Award, GIST (Global Innovation through Science & Technology), IBA-INVENT Entrepreneurial Challenge, MIT Enterprise Forum – Business Acceleration Program, REC@nnect Startup Bootcamp. More recently, he won two grants from US-Embassy Islamabad & Shell Global for the development of his brainchild 'LapBOX'. After sucessful completion of project at NUST, he was hired by PLUMgrid Inc. a Silicon Valley based company as Manager Ops for the re-engineering & automation of the business processes.
He believes that knowledge should be used in the greater benefit of humanity. After his MBA in 2007 he started a research degree in finance in 2009, when at that time the world was experiencing one of the worst financial crises of 2008. Focusing the real problem, he directed his research to “Banking Crisis Prediction Model” as his master’s thesis. He used machine learning algorithms on the economic data for prediction of crisis.
