Prof. Dr. Shaukat Ali Khan Dean Faculty of Engineering
Prof. Dr. Shaukat Ali Khan served as Dean, Civil & Environmental Engineering and Basic Sciences & Humanities at various HEIs. He has 44 years of outstanding experience in academics, administration, research, and consultancy. He is founding member of the Department of Civil Engineering UET Taxila with the credit of developing and strengthening the Department. He further has the credit of establishing Consultancy and Advisory Services at the Department of Civil Engineering UET Taxila in 1979. He worked as a consultant on thousands of projects for numerous reputed Local and Multinational Organizations e.g., Dong-Fang Electric Corporation-CHINA, NJS Corporation-JAPAN, Taisei Corporation-JAPAN, Tobishima Corporation-JAPAN, Kito-International-JAPAN, OMV-Austria, Occidental of Pakistan-USA. The Executive Director HEC and Kelly Robbins, Senior Program Officer Mid-America Earthquake Centre awarded appreciation certificates to Dr. Shaukat for preparing Damage Survey Reports of Earthquake Hit Educational Institutions in Kashmir and KPK which were then published at International Disaster Reduction Conference, Davos (Switzerland)
He earned BSc Civil Engineering with distinction from UET Lahore and secured MSc Geotechnical Engineering with credit from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne-UK. He competed Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) scholarship and successfully completed group training on Mega Geotechnical Projects organized by Ministry of Construction & Japanese Geotechnical society JAPAN. He worked on a novel research topic “Reuse of Plastic Shopper Waste for Construction of Structural Arch” which attracted worldwide recognition and secured PhD degree. He published over 50 research papers in Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) approved International & National journals and conferences. He authored 2-Laboratory Manuals and 3-Books with 4-Star rating. HEC awarded 0.2 million cash prizes for his 2-books published by HEC. He is member of Research and Technical Committees of various HEIs. His area of interest is reuse of Waste in Geotechnical Applications.
