Muslim Youth University, Islamabad

Event Description

Department of Electrical Engineering Muslim Youth University organized a workshop in collaboration with Solar Business Community Pakistan (SBCP) on “Future of Solar Energy in Pakistan”

The workshop started with the name of ALLAH, Guest Speakers of the Workshop were Nasir A. Latif, CEO Solar Sigma Company and Waqar Bukhari, Ex-Advisor COMSATS University. The Speakers gave an outlook on scope of solar power in Pakistan. He said that the Sun is potentially a huge source of renewable, clean energy. Some estimate that sunlight could produce 10,000 times as much power as the Earth used at the turn of the 21st century. There are, however, major technological challenges to be met in harnessing that energy effectively. There are a number of different technologies available, and under development, that use sunlight to provide power.  He added

Solar energy offers security and independence to businesses and the individual consumers of Pakistan. Costing lower than grid electricity, a smaller set-up time and smoother integration with the existing energy systems, the technology offers a viable solution to create a diversified and greener energy mix.

Pakistan is located on a sun belt with potential capacity for solar photovoltaic installation at 1,600 GW, which is 40 times greater than the present consumption.

After question answers session the seminar was concluded by Dr. Tahir Hijazi, Vice Chancellor Muslim Youth University Islamabad. He added that MY University signed a MoU with Solar Business Community Pakistan (SBCP) for better University & industry collaboration.  University is widely viewed as an economic engine that can positively contribute to a country’s growth in addition to its primary role as a center for knowledge. However, for university to maintain a competitive advantage in a knowledge society where creativity and innovations are at center stage they must need to collaborate with Industry.

It is through these programs that relevant skill development by universities will be realized in order to meet business need.https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif
