Total Course Work (18 credit hours)
6 – Credit hours of course work to be completed by studying two (2) core courses:
12 – Credit hours of coursework to be completed by studying 4 electives from the following list of courses:
Comprehensive Examination
Every student is required to take a comprehensive exam before to beginning work on the thesis to show that they have a firm grasp of the material. The total time allotted for the exam is 8 hours. The goal of the test is to assess the degree to which the student can use their knowledge within a holistic context. The scholar has two years from the time of acceptance to pass the comprehensive exam.
PhD Synopsis
In order to submit their PhD Synopsis in BASAR within a year of passing their comprehensive exam, scholars are strongly advised to begin their research during their course work. A student's admission to MY University will be terminated and he or she will be required to drop out of the degree program if they do not pass BASAR within a year of taking their comprehensive exam.
Doctoral Thesis (27 credit hours)
After the study proposal has been approved by the Board of Advanced Studies and study, the actual writing of the thesis can begin. According to HEC regulations, the final PhD dissertation must be evaluated by two international and two domestic specialists. The student will have to take a Viva test based on the evaluations made by both international and domestic experts. There will be both external (local experts) and internal (university) examiners, as well as, if at all possible, the same international (written) experts who graded the thesis. To earn a doctorate, one must have scholarly work published in a journal approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
