MYU Library

The Central Library of MY University includes an impressive collection of books, reference material, and an e-library. It assists students, faculty, and researchers in studies, teaching, and research. The main purpose of MY University library is to promote inquiry and critical thinking by providing access to information resources. It also supports lifelong learning by anticipating and responding to the requirements of students and the faculty.

However, the aim of MY library is to inspire the desire to read, and to enrich the quality of life of the university community. The library services are automated through the latest integrated software KOHA to provide 24-7 access to the specified academic services. Dewey decimal classification 23 edition has been used for the classification of all subject categories. The MY library ideally located on the ground floor of the main campus.

Services & facilities:

Circulation Service

All registered users of the library are entitled to borrow books and items from the lending section. Lending privileges differ for various categories of membership. Renewal and reservation services are also available for the same.

Reference Service

MY University also provides Reference Service. Users may make queries via telephone (ext: 8001, 8002) or through e-mail

Searching Assistance

For items not found on the shelf or not easily accessible, circulation desk can be approached for assistance.

InterLibrary Loan (ILL)

Material (books, magazine/journal or newspaper articles) not owned by the MYUL, can be borrowed from other Pakistani libraries. Initially, this service is limited to some local university libraries. This service is available to all MYU library members free of charge.

Please first verify the unavailability of the required material in MYUL collection by going through the library catalog. Any such material request can be made through the ILL Request Form available with the circulation desk. The request is sent to other libraries through an e-mail or via telephone. When a request is honored the external library sends the original item or a photocopy of it. It can take two weeks or more to get the required item.

Reprographic Service

MYU Library also assist its users with printing, scanning and photocopy service.

Rules and Regulations 

  • On entering, all personal belongings must be left at a special rack available inside the library.
  • The library staff will not in any way be responsible for contents of the handbags, briefcases, etc.
  • The users may select books from the racks, but without disturbing the arrangement.
  • Books once removed from the shelves must be placed at the nearest table or counter.
  • The use of Mobile Phone, Eating, Sleeping, Slouching, Drinking, Laughing, Clapping, Smoking and Playing games, Chatting, etc. are strictly prohibited in the library.
  • Musical instruments are not allowed in the library
  • Silence must be observed in the library at all times.
  • Books, Journals, and Newspapers should not be marked with ink or pencil.
  • Tearing out pages or damaging the reading material in any way is strictly prohibited.
  • No student will be served without the University Identity Card or Library card.
  • Those who infringe rules shall be liable to disciplinary action.
  • Violators will be subject to a fine between Rs500 and Rs5000 as per description given by the librarian.
  • Textbooks will be issued for 15 days, and renewable.
  • Library membership forms are available with the librarian and must be submitted along with (1*1) passport size picture.
  • The librarian has the right to ask a user to leave the library premises if found violating any of the above rules.

  • Reference Materials such as Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Atlases, and Research Reports must not be removed from the library premises
  • Current issues of Periodicals and Newspapers only be consulted within the library
  • Loaned Books can be reissued further for 15 days provided no other users has expressed the need for it.
  • Overdue material will not be reissued.
  • An overdue email is sent to users as a reminder of the due date automatically.
  • If some loaned material is urgently required, library staff will act accordingly.

Loan Fines:

Books and other resources loaned from MYU Library must be returned within the due date, otherwise fine will be charged.

Fine: Rs10 per day

If fine exceeds Rs500, membership will cease until payment of the fine.

In the event of loss or damage to the loaned material, a user will be required to provide a replacement or fine which may be double the actual cost.

Digital Library

The MYU Digital Library section has an extensive collection of e-books and journals. More than 700 books in e format are available online through the Calibre E-Book Management system.
